Foz do Iguaçu International Airport has entered a new phase of development with the official handover of the Phase 1B terminal expansion works this January 2025. This milestone was celebrated in a ceremony attended by various authorities, including the Governor of Paraná, Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, and the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.
The improvements at Foz do Iguaçu Airport are remarkable. The passenger terminal has been expanded by 5,000 m², and new check-in, international, and domestic boarding areas have been created. All of these areas are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment supplied and installed by Cassioli, to serve more than 1,500 passengers per hour. The boarding area is equipped with 25 check-in conveyors, 2 flight preparation carousels, and interconnecting conveyors prepared to receive 100% of checked baggage inspection. In the arrivals area, we provided 1 baggage reclaim carousel with 100% of baggage inspected. In addition, three new aprons with a capacity of up to 13 aircraft were built, and the runway was extended to 2,858 m, the largest in the Southern region of Brazil.
The terminal manager, Wander Melo Jr., highlighted the commitment and dedication of the entire team during the months of work. Carrying out the work while the terminal was fully operational was one of the great challenges overcome, and more than 2 million passengers were recorded in the last year. Cassioli was part of the more than 1,000 professionals who were involved in the project, ensuring the continuity of operations 24 hours a day.
