Case study Offal

The Company

Offal is an Argentine company specializing in the processing and marketing of beef offal, suitable for human consumption, pharmaceutical use, heat treatment and for the production of animal food.

Active on the market for over 60 years, Offal is a leader in this sector, so much so that it exports about 7,000 tons / month, with production lines of 400 tons / day, and a total storage capacity of 10,000 tons. Offal branded products supply various market segments, from supermarkets to wholesalers to factories.

CUSTOMER NEEDS

The customer turned to Cassioli for the construction of a multi-depth automatic warehouse at -25 ° for finished products.

The warehouse was to be used for the storage of frozen beef offal, positioned inside cardboard boxes that had to be stored in a special warehouse at low temperatures. There was also the need to organize warehouse handling through LGV automatic guided vehicles.

Cassioli has designed the construction of an automatic self-supporting warehouse at -25 ° of temperature. The warehouse is spread over 6 levels, with an IMASTER shuttle for each level. Each IMASTER moves an ISAT shuttle pallet, with 20 depth levels for each side of the warehouse.

All pallets are labeled with a bar code and transported inside the automatic warehouse through a LGV laser guided vehicle system. The LGVs are used both for the supply of the warehouse, at the entrance, and for the withdrawal from it, at the exit. Inside the plant, 4 elevators have also been installed, which allow the pallets to be moved on different levels.

At the center of the two shelves of the warehouse run the IMASTER: the warehouse is about 45 meters long by 45 meters wide and 20 meters high. The pallets are 1200x1000 in size, up to 2.2 meters high, with a maximum capacity of 1500 kg for each pallet. The warehouse has a total of 6,000 pallet spaces, 3,000 for each side of the warehouse: the flow is 60 incoming pallets and 100 outgoing pallets.

To allow ISAT maintenance to be carried out, a special maintenance area has also been designed in the compensation chamber at -5 °, located between the production and the automatic warehouse, in order to allow operators to work at a favorable temperature for the man.
