Cassioli strives every day for economic development as well as sustainable development, preserving the quality and quantity of its assets and natural reserves in the best possible way. Its objective is to sustain a level of economic development compatible with social equality and the ecosystems. While pursuing business profitability, Cassioli also aims to operate following criteria of responsibility towards all stakeholders, both internal (employees, partners) and external (suppliers, consumers, the community), and protect the environment by containing energy consumption and reusing and recycling.

Environment: emissions and alternative energy

The actions and measures taken daily aim to improve not just the lives of the people working for the company, but also those of all stakeholders and the local community. As a matter of fact, the “Road to 25” project was conceived with the objective of reducing waste, reducing CO2 emissions, increasing energy regeneration and powering machinery using alternative energies, in the five years between 2020 and 2025.

Since 2020, the year of the Covid 19 pandemic, which led many companies like ours to rethink their business strategies, Cassioli has taken a number of initiatives aimed at making the Company more sustainable in terms of the environment and the repercussions that its production activities have on the local territory and community. The initiatives taken by Cassioli for the Company and its Customers, include:

COMPANY

  • Using LED light bulbs in place of traditional bulbs
  • Recycling in offices and on work floors
  • Eliminating and/or reducing the use of plastic (-1155 kg per year)
  • Reducing the use of water from the network by creating a drain line that fills two tanks with a capacity of 20 cubic meters each
  • Investing in renewable sources by installing a new photovoltaic system – with crystalline modules and a nominal power of 141.120 kwp – on the roof of its new industrial building
  • Encouraging zero mobility emissions with the installation of electric car charging points in the external areas of the premises
  • Obtaining the ISO 14001 certification, Environmental Management System
  • Obtaining the Silver level Ecovadis Certification, for companies environmental and social performance
  • Applying for the ESAERG Energy Diagnosis (ISO 50001)

CUSTOMERS

  • Improving the environmental performance of Cassioli products by reducing top energy consumption of stacker cranes and using composite materials (new and recycled) to make pallets with a lower environmental impact

Our objective, from now till 2025, is to focus on contributing more to protect the environment and reduce the waste of raw materials and energy.

FOR CUSTOMERS:

  • Reduce the power installed in Cassioli plants

  • Size the Regenerative System
  • Size the Production/Photovoltaic Panel System
  • Thanks to the recently stipulated collaboration with the University of Pisa, we are developing a simulator/measuring system that will allow us to calculate our plants’ consumption, regenerative capacity, and detailed consumptions compared to the traditional solution.

FOR THE COMPANY:

  • Obtain the Gold level Ecovadis Certification, for companies environmental and social performance
  • Obtain the ESAERG Energy Diagnosis Certification (ISO 50001)
  • Install new sources of clean energy to make sure that the company is self-sustainable from an energy point of view

At Cassioli we strongly believe that to bring value to our Company we first need to bring value to the people who work in it. Therefore, in recent years we have implemented a number of initiatives that aim to improve the work environment and atmosphere, making sure that our employees are satisfied, gratified, and happy at work.

Cassioli considers the care, wellness, and satisfaction of its employees as a priority and over the years, especially in the last five years, it has taken a number of initiatives aimed at improving the work environment, starting from:

  • Applying for the SA8000 Ethical Certification
  • Applying for the Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) Certification
  • Offering accommodation for non-local interns and new employees
  • Offering a yearly production bonus and fuel bonus
  • Providing more spacious, brighter, and more comfortable work environments
  • Enlarging the company car park
  • Installing free drinking water points and providing reusable water bottles
  • Running a reasonably priced company canteen
  • Offering discounts and promotions for sports activities, gyms, and sports facilities
  • Purchasing a defibrillator and providing training courses on how to use it

Community: sport, culture, and investments

Cassioli promotes relations and initiatives for the local community and the territory in which it operates by sponsoring sports and cultural events and partnering with institutions, universities, schools, and associations. Our Company solves issues with innovative solutions that adapt to the specific social and environmental contest, taking into account the impact that its business has on the local community and promoting the professional growth of students and people looking to enter the world of work.

Recently, we have carried out the following activities:

  • in 2019, to contribute to the containment of the Covid pandemic, we opened a vaccination hub on our premises. The hub, accessible to the local community, also offered the flu vaccine
  • we bought ethical gifts and held a charity lottery among Cassioli employees
  • we sponsored cultural activities such as Torrita Blues and Associazione Sagra di San Giuseppe, in Torrita di Siena
  • we sponsored sports associations such as ACF Fiorentina, SIR Safety Perugia, Wealth Planet Perugia Volley, Padel Valdichiana Torrita, Tennis Club Sinalunga, UNUS Tennis Sinalunga
