Pick to Light

The PTL (Pick to Light and Put to Light) systems are picking solutions of the “operator to materials” kind that ensure high output (up to 500 - 600 picks per hour). The operator moves along the shelves (dynamic and with multiple accumulation depth) and picks the whole amount of materials required for a batch of orders through signals that appear on lit monitors. Practically speaking, the picker immediately subdivides the materials in different cartons, each of which is associated to a picking list that is being filled.

The system can move empty cartons towards the operators and transfer the cartons to other operator areas or end-of-line as they are filled. Matching a progressive number to each box guarantees the traceability required by activities downline (weighing, packing list, label printing, final destination).

Pick to Light systems may be used in the following conditions:

• Not very large articles
• High stock turn articles (efficient only with class A products)
• Accepting limited operator flexibility (the number is defined beforehand, to assign the areas).
