Island Picking - SLS
Picking islands served by automated SLS shuttles represent the ideal picking solution based on the “materials to operators” approach. Sorting precedes the actual picking stage: the load units from which pick up is made are automatically sorted to fixed picking stations by means of a system of SLS shuttles moving along a closed-circuit route. Each picking island may be associated to one or more orders being filled.
Picking Islands with self-drive SLS shuttles:
- A flexible solution thanks to the possibility of increasing workstations and quick lengthening of shuttle circuit.
- Output may be increased by using more shuttles on the circuit.
- Automatic balancing of the work load among the various picking stations
- The SLS system also recovers shipping units and transfers them to a loading area.
